it sucks that lisa mitchell didn't win any.

I was backing Ladyhawke, Mitchell and Sia tonight. Very happy with results.

Theres always next year, plus her performance was sooo good :)

Pathetic that ARIA continues to snub ex-Idol contestants.. Jess Mauboy deserved those 2 breakthrough awards and was beaten by a KIWI that had no right to be up for those awards. We'll see where "Ladyhawke" is in a couple of years while Jess is off conquering the world. It's telling when Jess only won the one award that couldn't be rigged, the one for record sales.

Jessica Mauboy only winning one award makes this show FAIL. No one even knows who half of the other people are.

it totally sucks that Temper Trap missed out as well:-)

It's a pity Vanessa Amorosi wasn't nominated.

I think the ARIA voters got it right as far as Jessica Mauboy was concerned. I reckon the injustice was that she actually got 4 industry voted nominations(obviously assisted by the fact that record companies have a lot of power in the voting, and Sony would have put most of their votes on her). The 3 sales ones fine, as we all know how much the tweenies love her, but most who saw her performance last night or indeed most of her performances on tv shows this last year knows she is just a trained record company puppet. The twitters about her performance last night were almost 100% bad. Only a couple had anything nice to say. She has as much musical depth as a piece of toast. Thank you ARIA voters for seeing through the record company push trying to make her something she is not. A real musician.

So disappointed Ladyhawke was nominated. While she is great, she did not satisfy the requirements of the awards. She should not have been nominated.
VERY disappointed for Jessica Mauboy. Brilliant album with 6 brilliant singles. Should have won Breakthrough Album, and perhaps even Breakthrough single. I also think she deserved Best Female over Sarah Blasko. Her album has been in the charts for the whole year, she has supported it by many shows around the country, and it has even been taken overseas.
(Side note, thrilled Daniel Merriweather won)
Cheers

Jessica Mauboy deserved at least 2 more awards...shame ARIA's!!! not saying the others aren't great,,but Jess did so well on the charts, radio & with live performances..guess she is too 'pop' and not edgy enough for the ARIA voters.....and agree that Temper Trap should've cored an ARIA..

What a pathetic show.

What has happened to the Aussie music industry? I miss the 90's when we embraced some good ol' rock n roll and pure pop.

Now it's all dull and pretentious "indie" music that all sounds exactly the same to one another.

i am actually quite pleased with this year's outcome. the diversity of the nominees certainly made it one of the more interesting arias - well at least it was a lot more interesting than last year's arias. there were some categories where i couldn't decide who i wanted more to win but overall i thought all of the winners were very deserving. 2009 has been a great year for aussie music in a commercial and non commercial sense.

on a side note, some of these jess mauboy comments are cracking me up. particularly @JessicaRules. i for one know at least three quarters of the nominees. perhaps you should try changing radio stations from time to time.

cjm, I am trying to say that if you went along the street asking people if they knew singers, more people would know Jessica Mauboy than say Sarah Blasko or Ladyhawke. Therefore she should have won the Breakthrough awards.

Jessica Mauboy should've won breakthrough artist, and Keith Urban should've won as well. Besides that I was happy with the results, perforances in the arias were great : )
