KELIS : Acapella

Kelis revealed a snippet of her new video for 'Acapella' this time last week, but now the full shibang has made it's online premiere. And it would appear that the singer has been raiding Luke Steele's wardrobe for most of the clip - plenty of face paint and feathers adorn her as she serves up a look that's altogether tribal - and desperately stylish. Just one look at that incredible luminous face mask and you know you're in for a little treat.
And a treat it is - any wonder why the song has been banging around at the top of the Billboard Dance Charts.
Stylish clip, plenty of spectacular set-ups, and a great, great track.

BANDIT'S NEW MOVES

The world of digital music retail is constantly evolving - and companies have to keep up with the latest trends from both here and overseas. The gang at bandit.fm know this only too well and have today announced a series of three brand new premium memberships for folk who really love their music.
The "Music On Tap" package gives members unlimited streaming of all tracks in bandit.fm's catalogue (more than two million at last count, not including videos). This option is similar to the wildly popular Spotify streaming service, already available throughout Europe, including the UK.
The "Load & Go" package, with a minimum three month sign up, allows members to download $40 worth of music every month for just $15.99 pm.
And the "Best Of Both Worlds" membership contains both the streaming service and $20 worth of downloads per month, also for $15.99 pm.
The three new options are in addition to the regular membership, which allows users to download on a pay as you go basis.
And though bandit.fm is a product of Sony Music Australia, the catalogue contains music from all major record labels and a series of independents.
Understandably, Sony Music's CEO Denis Handlin is most excited about the new options.
“It is a pleasure to deliver music fans a local music service of the highest quality; one that tailors to their content needs and allows flexibility as well as great value. Content is key and bandit.fm offers the best musical offerings to its Australian members,” he said in a statement.

The boys from Budgewoi are currently putting the finishing touches to their second album, but Universal Music has revealed today that their debut 'Stack Is The New Black' has just been accredited gold, for sales of 35,000 or more.
The boys are also back on the road for a series of live dates that will culminate with a very special black tie gig at the iconic Sydney Opera House on Saturday April 24. The Opera House show will also give fans an exclusive preview of tracks from the new album.

April 10 : Melbourne (Festival Hall)
April 16 : Canberra (University Of Canberra)
April 17 : Nowra (Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre)
April 23 : Newcastle (Panthers)

LENNON IN THE BAG

The image might be small, but the impact of this release into Australian retail stores on April 17 will send ripples through the Beatles loving community the world over. To celebrate Record Store Day on April 17, EMI is releasing this extremely limited edition vinyl collection.
The John Lennon Singles Bag will contain three 45rpm vinyls - one featuring 'Mother' and Yoko Ono's 'Why', one featuring 'Imagine' and 'It's So Hard' and the third featuring 'Watching The Wheels' and Yoko Ono's 'Yes, I'm Your Angel'.
They'll come complete with replicated original artwork, a 24x36" poster and three postcards, all housed within an individually numbered Kraftpak envelope with button and string enclosure and a custom plastic adaptor hub.
It's anticipated that the singles bags will become some of the most sought after collectibles in the music world, given their availability for just one day - Record Store Day - on April 17.

JACK'S NEW SINGLE

The singer is in Australia this week for a star turn at the Byron Bay Blues Festival.

* Not much movement on the British singles chart this week, with Lady Gaga and Beyonce still atop the chart with 'Telephone'. The week's highest new entry is all the way down at No.13 - Usher's new single 'OMG'. Boyzone rocket into the top ten again with single 'Gave It All Away'.
* On the UK albums side of things, Boyzone displaces Gaga from the No.1 position with 'Brother', Laura Marling gets a No.4 debut, Goldfrapp's in at No.6 with 'Head First' and Gabriella Cilmi debuts all the way down at No.28. You've also got to say it's pretty much over for the Sugababes - 'Sweet 7' plummets from No.14 to No.43 in it's second week.
* Ricky Martin has confirmed with the world what the world pretty much knew years ago - he's of the homosexual persuasion.
* And his former duet partner Christina Aguilera has given fans a taste of what to expect from her new single 'Not Myself Tonight' (below). She's also revealed a couple more images from the 'Bionic' photo shoot, including this one (left).

JUNIOR CALDERA FTG. SOPHIE ELLIS-BEXTOR : Can't Fight This Feeling

Well if that's not the longest title we've ever popped up on the site... Junior Caldera hasn't gone and taken his track 'Can't Fight This Feeling' and added the proven pop prowess of one Sophie Ellis-Bextor to make a disco stomper that's sure to find itself in the upper reaches of the French charts most soon. The only thing is the timing - poor Sophie's making a comeback of her own accord with new single 'Bittersweet'. Will your average punter get too confused between the SEB tracks and pack up their bat and ball and go home? Let's hope not.

TOURING : Cloud Control

There seems to be a little bit of a buzz surrounding Blue Mountains outfit Cloud Control right now - and it's all to do with the building anticipation of their debut album 'Bliss Release', which is due for release in the middle of May. RENEE CASSAR : Live And Learn

Aussie songstress Renee Cassar has a brand new single - and a brand new video to accompany it! 'Live And Learn' is the singer's second single from the album of the same name, due soon.
The clip's got a sort of timeless quality which matches perfectly the feel of the song, which is sweet and heartfelt. She's chased down a footpath by a series of song lyrics, she paints, she plays the guitar (so we know she's a creative type), and is surrounded by a collection of vases and flowers that seem to be wilting in the late summer sunshine.
Then she pops out onto the street and begins a serious campaign to get the name of her single out there.
It's a really lovely track - but there's just one thing that doesn't work about it - the single cover art (pictured). It's totally mismatched to the track, the clip, the vibe of the artist.

EXTRA GAGA TIX FOR ADELAIDE

MORE INCOMING GAGA!

Is this getting a local release? Universal Music has this afternoon popped through their latest release schedule - and look what we've found among it's pages. Yes, it appears that Universal Music Australia is set to release Lady Gaga's 'The Remix' - a collection of (you guessed it) Lady Gaga remixes that's so far been released only in Japan.
And while we can't confirm that it will be exactly the same as the Japanese release (above), 'The Remix' (catalogue No.2738280) is currently slotted in for a local release on April 30. That'll keep the 'monsters' happy...

CHART WATCH

ALBUMS : Over on the albums side of the pond, it's all about Angus & Julia Stone - the brother/sister combination hold steady at the top of the albums chart - with a further 8233 sales. But they're not too far ahead of a touring Lady Gaga, who bagged 8042 copies of 'The Fame Monster' for her No.2 place.
Mumford & Sons are up to No.3 with 'Sigh No More' (5049 sales), Gorillaz drop just the one to No.4 (3495 sales) and Jason Derulo is firm at five (3373 sales).
Highest debut of the week comes courtesy of Laura Marling and her new album 'I Speak Because I Can'. It sold 3011 copies within the week to debut in the No.7 position.
EMI also got the No.14 debut this week - with Goldfrapp's new album 'Head First'. Alison and the gang sold 2075 copies in their first week. Three places below was Gabriella Cilmi and her new album 'Ten'. It sold 1835 copies for it's No.17 debut.

OFFICIAL ARIA CHARTS

MACY GRAY BREAKS COVER

It's release is still almost three months away, but Macy Gray has broken cover on her brand new album 'The Sellout'.
Macy has told of how the album came to be.
“I had got to a place in my career where I tried everything that was asked of me and in doing so I lost sight of who Macy Gray really is. I spent over a year making this album without any pressure or opinions and being able to choose the co-writers, producers and artists that felt good to me. As a result, it really reflects my true identity," she said.
The album's first single 'Beauty In The World' is set for release digitally later this week. Macy's due to announce a world tour in the weeks ahead.

JBT HITS APPLE

The John Butler Trio will celebrate the release of their brand new album 'April Uprising' by paying a visit to the Apple Store in George Street Sydney this Saturday night. Though the gig will be completely free, it'll be on a strictly first come, first served basis and access will be strictly limited, so make sure you're there early.
The performance will also be recorded and be made available for download exclusively through the iTunes store later in the year.

VANESSA AMOROSI : Mr.Mysterious

Given the video clip for Ness's last single 'Hazardous' was a little (okay a lot) underwhelming, we were hoping and praying that 'Mr Mysterious' would provide us with more. And even though the clip is once again shot in a studio in front of a blue screen, the producers have come up with a look that's a heck of a lot more exciting, engaging and eye-catching. The addition of Seany B into the mix provides a welcome distraction for teen girls and Vanessa looks hot in her sheer body stocking. Stylistically miles ahead of the previous clip.

NEWS WRAP

* Michael Buble has revealed an exclusive fan edition of his album 'Crazy Love'. The disc will be available exclusively from his official website, with details in a dramatic advertorial HERE.
* The Rogue Traders have postponed their forthcoming concert at Sydney's Lyric Theatre on April 10. James and Mindy broke the news via their forum last night, adding that more work still needs to be done on their forthcoming album 'Night Of The Living Drums'. They've said, however, that a full tour will happen, beginning on August 20.
* Australia's Got Talent crooner Mark Vincent has a new album ready just in time for Mother's Day. It's called 'Compass' and will be released by Sony Music on April 16.
* Katie Melua will release her brand new album 'The House' in Australia on May 28. The singer, famous for her very downtempo back catalogue, will surprise many with the new material, which has been produced by William Orbit. She's also worked with Guy Chambers and Rick Nowels on the LP, with the first single 'The Flood' due at radio shortly.
* Inertia's sent us through their latest release schedule, and in addition to the new Sia album, scheduled for a June 4 release, it also reveals Tracey Thorn's new album 'Love And It's Opposite' will also get a local release - May 14.
* Alesha Dixon has revealed she's hard at work on a brand new album, once again enlisting the services of the all-conquering Xenomania team to help in it's creation.
* It's been rumoured the new Sugababes album 'Sweet 7' will drop out of the top 30 in the UK this week, just two weeks after it's retail release. It's also been reported that the band has been dropped by their US record label.
* And the Glee Madonna EP seems to have disappeared in physical form from this week's Sony Music release schedule.

BINGOBOYS : How To Dance

Step left, around, then together with the right... How good was this one hit wonder!? Viennese trio The Bingoboys had their one and only Australian hit with 'How To Dance' back in 1991 - it also achieved success Stateside both on the dance chart and on the mainstream chart. Spanish songstress Princessa was the track's rap vocalist (a must-have in any early '90s clip) and the track borrowed from Chic's 'Yowsah Yowsah Yowsah', as well sampled Tom Jones' 'Kiss'. Great early '90s pop that we thought deserved a little airing.

It comes as Gabriella hits home turf to set out on a series of promotional duties, which will also see her performing on So You Think You Can Dance, Sunrise and the TV Week Logie Awards.

CHRISTINA'S BIONIC

Well this 'big news' certainly makes up for yesterday's 'big news' that followed on from Wednesday's big news over at www.christinaaguilera.com. On Wednesday, Christina revealed the cover image for her forthcoming single 'Not Myself Tonight'. Then yesterday, she posted the lyrics for the single.
But today, she's revealed both the cover image for her forthcoming album 'Bionic' (above) and the album's release date.
It's set to hit the stores on June 07 (which will make it June 04 here in Australia).

WILD RETURNS

The mighty Wild FM compilations were some of the most successful various artist albums ever to grace Australian retails stores. Right throughout the 1990s and into the new millennium, they sold by the bucketload - eager fans lining up outside their local record store just to get their mitts on the latest version.
Well the Wild compilations are back - with the brand new edition, 'Wild Nights 2010', about to land into stores.
It's a three disc set this time around, with plenty of juicy remixes of some of your favourite chart and club hits to keep you bouncing all night long.
On the mix, you'll find Sydney's Archie, resident DJ at Sublime and Baby Gee from Brisbane, while artists featured include Black Eyed Peas, Gramophonedzie, N-Dubz, Agnes, Tiesto ftg. Nelly Furtado, Mobin Master and many more.
Wild Nights 2010 hits the shops on April 09.

GET FAR FTG. H-BOOGIE : The Radio

We've not got too many details about this new track called 'The Radio', only that it's been doing some big business over in Europe. Hailing from Italy, Get Far's original track seems to have been given a lick of paint and a little polish to begin it's quest to conquer the globe.
We're loving the vocals, we're loving the clip, especially the thought of perhaps having a fancy dress party in the middle of a forest. Random!

NEW ORIANTHI

We don't quite know what's gone on here, but young Adelaide singer/guitarist Orianthi, who was part of Michael Jackson's ill-fated 'This Is It' tour only released her album 'Believe' towards the end of last year - and already Universal Music is whacking out another track that's NOT from the LP. 'Shut Up And Kiss Me' was last night serviced to radio in Australia in both 'pop edit' and 'radio edit' form.
Orianthi will take to the stage on John Mayer's upcoming Aussie tour, playing the support role.

KELIS TASTER

It seems it's not just her Milkshake that brings all the boys to the yard - Kelis's new single 'Acapella' is doing a pretty good job of things too. Already topping the dance charts over in the US, Kelis has just provided fans with a little taster of what to expect when the video drops officially early on Tuesday morning our time. Her new album 'Flesh Tone' is due at Australian retail on May 14.

SONY RELEASES CELINE

Australia's Celine Dion fans will soon have their appetites well and truly whetted with not one, but two new titles set for release late next month.
Firstly there's the 'Taking Chances World Tour' live CD and DVD (above). 18 tracks make up the DVD, while 19 will be featured on the CD (both have different tracklistings). The DVD includes 'The Prayer', 'Taking Chances', 'River Deep, Mountain High' and 'My Heart Will Go On', along with two medleys, while the CD includes 'The Power Of Love', 'Because You Loved Me' and 'All By Myself'.
Full tracklisting is in the comments section on the post.
Also out late next month is the fly on the wall documentary about the making of the Taking Chances tour. 'Through The Eyes Of The World' follows the songstress through five continents, 25 countries and an incredible 93 cities, exposing a side of Celine not often seen by the public.
Says Celine of the release, "I let the cameras follow me everywhere. There are a lot of ups and downs, and it's very personal.... It's definitely the most intimate journey that I've ever shared with my fans."
The DVD release also features an extra hour of footage not seen during it's limited cinematic release.
Both are out locally on April 30.

MORE PWL RE-RELEASES

Three classic PWL albums were given a right royal re-release in the UK early last year. Classic Stock Aitken Waterman releases from Mandy Smith, Princess and Lonnie Gordon were re-released with bonus tracks and remixes through Cherry Pop Records. The company was also responsible for releasing a Sinitta best-of in the UK towards the end of last year.
The tradition looks set to continue this year, with Cherry Pop announcing that it will release Big Fun's classic 'A Pocketful Of Dreams' CD in the UK on April 19. The disc spurned the hits 'Can't Shake The Feeling' and the trio's iconic kitsch cover version of 'Blame It On The Boogie'.
In addition, Edsel Records are also set to re-issue two classic Rick Astley PWL albums next month. 'Whenever You Need Somebody' and 'Hold Me In Your Arms' will be re-released in the UK on April 12, complete with bonus tracks and a second CD containing 14 remixes.
Aussie fans haven't been missing out either, however, with a selection of classic PWL albums making their way to the local iTunes store in recent times. Sonia's classic 'Everybody Knows' is now available, so too singles and remixes from Lonnie Gordon, Hazell Dean, Cool Notes, Boy Krazy, Delage, Erik and many more.
Seems that everything old is new again.

XTINA UPDATE

We'll agree with Christina Aguilera's people that yesterday's revelation of the name and cover image of her new single 'Not Myself Tonight' was indeed big news. The pop world has missed her. But the second piece of 'big news' overnight last night was just the lyrics of the song. Not so much 'big news' as a side dish to yesterday's big news.
The singer continues the trend again overnight tonight, revealing more big news (perhaps the single release date) over at www.christinaaguilera.com.
What we can tell you is that 'Not Myself Tonight' is scheduled to hit Australian radio on Tuesday March 30, with the album 'Bionic' pencilled in for "early June". So that would be June 04 or June 11, kids.

FREE LISA MITCHELL

If you follow us over on our TWITTER PAGE, you'd have known we had meant to pop this up yesterday on the site. Sadly, one thing or another got in the way and we've held it on over. But we know you'll understand that it was most definitely worth the wait.
Lisa Mitchell has just released her new single 'Oh, Hark!' to iTunes here in Australia. But on the other side of the world, the Brits have to wait until April 12 to get their hands on it. Remixes of 'Oh, Hark!' have been commissioned over there - and thanks to Lisa's UK publicists, we've excitedly been granted permission to give away one of the remixes here for you right now!
All you have to do to get your hands on the 'Ou Est Le Swimming Pool' remix of the track is to click on the cover image (above) and the track will magically download itself to your computer! THAT simple!
(If we're feeling generous, we may very well do the same with another remix next week!)

TOURING : Diana Anaid

We mentioned a couple of weeks back about the forthcoming new material from Aussie songstress Diana Anaid (including her new single, the cover version of the classic 4 Non Blondes track 'What's Up'). Well now she's heading out on tour to give fans across Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland the chance to hear tracks from her forthcoming self-titled album (pictured).
Diana plays her first gig in May at Ruby's Lounge in Belgrave, Victoria, before making eight more stops up the east coast.
Tickets for all are on sale now. 'Diana Anaid' is set for release on April 16.

May 13 : Belgrave (Ruby's Lounge)
May 14 : Melbourne (The Evelyn)
May 15 : Geelong (Bended Elbow)
May 21 : Sydney (Excelsior)
May 22 : Newcastle (Northern Star Hotel)
May 23 : Katoomba (Gearin's Hotel)
May 28 : Brisbane (X&Y Bar)
May 29 : Maroochydore (Club Envy)
May 30 : Gold Coast (Titanium Bar)

SOPHIE ELLIS-BEXTOR : Bittersweet

We don't know what the devil is going on right now, but it seems that the world is very much turning back to pop music. Sophie Ellis-Bextor is the latest in a series of high profile pop artists to reveal new material. And although her new album 'Make A Scene' has had it's name changed to 'Straight To The Heart', the first single from it, the Freemasons co-penned 'Bittersweet' has not. The clip has premiered online and it all very glittery, feathery and stylish, despite it's simplicity.
No word yet on local release plans for Sophie's new material, but you know we'll keep you posted.

NERVO SIGNED

We're so damned excited for those girls Nervo - EMI Australia has this evening announced that the Melbourne duo, Miriam and Olivia, have been signed to an exclusive worldwide deal with Virgin Records. The "multi-faceted artist and label deal" will see the girls release their own music, along with signing artists to their own 'Nervo Records'.
It's an incredible vote of confidence in the girls, whose rollercoaster ride to the top began courtesy of the Rachel Stevens hit 'Negotiate With Love'.
Since then, they've worked with some of the biggest names in pop music, from the Pussycat Dolls to Kylie, Ke$ha, David Guetta, Kelly Rowland, Miley Cyrus and more.
"After so many years writing for and producing tracks for other artists, we are thrilled to be releasing our own material that truly represents who we are," says Liv. "Our own stuff tends to be a bit more tongue-in-cheek and even risqué. When we’re in the studio, we get the chance to be artistically free and that’s really satisfying."
Adds Mim: "With our own songs, there are no creative boundaries. We can do whatever we want with the music and lyrics, which is really exciting."
More info on the deal, including future release details, are expected soon.
The girls, meanwhile, have touched down in Miami after their recent visit home.

MERCHANT AHOY

Warner Music has today announced the local release of the brand new album for New York based singer/songwriter Natalie Merchant. 'Leave Your Sleep' (pictured) is the singer's fifth studio album and though it's been a fair while between drinks (seven years since her last outing, can you believe it), there's certainly no shortage of people eager to hear the new material. And Australian audiences will be among the first to hear it when it's released into stores on Friday April 09.

ELLIE LIGHTS AUSTRALIA

Looks like Universal Music Australia is getting right behind the Ellie Goulding juggernaut, announcing an Australian promotional tour for the so-hot-right-now British songstress next month. The singer will arrive on our shores for a series of appearances and interviews from Tuesday April 27 to Thursday April 29 inclusive, just under two weeks after the release of her debut album 'Lights' (pictured). Her debut single 'Starry Eyed' is at radio and digital retail in Australia now.

STEREO SYDNEY SECONDS

Sydney fans still hoping to catch a glimpse of their favourite outfit Stereophonics certainly will 'Have A Nice Day' today with news that the band, set to visit our shores for a series of concerts next month, have added a second and final Sydney date to the tour schedule. It's the band's fourth visit down under and agent Michael Coppel has today announced the second show, to be held on Sunday April 18 at the Metro Theatre. Tickets are on sale Tuesday March 30.

April 10 : Fremantle (Arts Centre)
April 13 : Adelaide (HQ Bar)
April 15 : Melbourne (Palace Theatre)
April 17 : Sydney (Enmore Theatre)
April 18 : Sydney (Metro Theatre) NEW SHOW
April 19 : Brisbane (HiFi Bar)

EMPIRE OF THE SUN : Half Mast

Master Steele has weighed anchor (a nautical term) on the Empire juggernaut and has sailed halfway 'round the world, making it all the way to the bright lights of New York City for the video for his latest single 'Half Mast'. In another one of his incredible costumes with obligatory painted on mask, he crunches through the snow until he happens upon a young lady in similar garb. She's obviously fed up with him for one reason or another because she leaves, only to pop back a minute later to rejoin him, apparently having a change of heart.

RECORD STORE DAY

Record Store Day 2009 was a raging success, with many big name artists heading into their local record store to either perform, sign copies of their discs or, in some cases, both. Some of Sony Music's brightest pop stars hit the shops to sell their wares, including Jessica Mauboy, Cassie Davis and Wes Carr. Short Stack hit the Tuggerah JB Hifi and Irish crooner Ronan Keating even took part - heading into Warringah Mall to meet public.
And the time is almost here to do it all over again, with Record Store Day set down for Saturday April 17.
In 2010, Record Store Day once again aims to celebrate that great tradition of wandering into your local record store, thumbing through your favourite CDs and perhaps picking up one or two newbies to add to your collection. And though no artists or stores have been revealed officially yet, this year's event promises to be bigger and better than ever.
Keep an eye on the RECORD STORE DAY website for more information.
We'll also keep you posted.

CHRISTINA SINGLE REVEALED

Christina Aguilera has revealed via her OFFICIAL WEBSITE that the first single from her forthcoming album is to be called 'Not Myself Tonight'. The news broke just a short time ago, with the website clock now counting down to another big announcement at the same time tomorrow. Do we dare assume something about the new album? (How 'Hard Candy' does this shot look?)

TIMES SIDETRACKED

Organisers of this year's Sidetracked event at the Australian Formula One Grand Prix in Melbourne this weekend have unveiled the playing times for all the incredible performers at this year's event. As mentioned previously, this year's line-up includes the likes of Bang Gang DJs, Andy Murphy and Chardy on the Saturday and Midnight Juggernauts, Grant Smillie, Bluejuice, Miami Horror and John Course on the Sunday. Sidetracked takes place near turn four of the Albert Park circuit.
